Hello, fellow thrift and vintage lovers. It’s about that time again! I now present to you, my France vintage clothing haul!
A Magical Day in France
It truly was a magical day in France when destiny brought me to Strasbourg the same day that the vintage street market was being held! We only had one full day in the area before we would be heading to the next town. My sister had gone out earlier than me to grab us some breakfast. When she came back, she was like “You are not going to believe this! I’ve got a surprise to show you!” At the time, I really had no idea what I was about to see. In fact, even my sister did not know the extent of her own surprise! She walked me to the beginning of the vintage market, which she thought was only one or two streets long. What she didn’t know, was that it basically went up and down almost every street in the whole town!!!! The most beautiful true-vintage clothing I had ever laid my eyes on!! Racks on racks on racks! AND SO inexpensive!!! I had obviously landed in my own little piece of paradise.
Honestly, if I had known that I would stumble upon this glorious vintage market, I would have come to France with two empty suitcases!!! Unfortunately, I came to France with one very full backpack. Three streets deep and one bag full, we agreed we had to peel ourselves away from the market before we got in over our heads! I cannot believe I am actually saying this, but the clothing was so good and so cheap, we literally couldn’t even LOOK anymore because we did not have the willpower to just window shop!!! We walked away in amazement…and concern for how we would be able to carry all of our new finds!
Now that I have given you the full backstory, I would like to show you the goods! I will say, it is a MINI haul! (For the reasons I explained above. ^^) I hope you enjoy.

I went adventuring into Columbus Georgia recently and stumbled upon the most perfect river walk on the Chattahoochee river! (Still can’t get over how funny that name is to me!) It was the prettiest place to make a lookbook for my macrame jewelry and flowy boho dress! This river walk was so stinkin cool because it had what they call “The Island”, which is basically the cutest little area with trees and rocks that overlook the river! The island is technically connected, but from a certain angle appears to be disconnected because of how far out it goes into the river.
The weather was perfect and made for a great day of pictures! My photoshoot for that day was featuring my dress from Mindful Bohemian and my adorable Macrame Jewelry from macramental! (It can be worn as a necklace or headpiece!) This piece of jewelry is a one of a kind, custom made piece, so be sure to put in your request for a custom design to match your personal style! OR, browse her beautiful current collection of jewelry that is out!
Macramental is the cutest macrame jewelry shop ever! She is seriously so talented at making her macrame jewelry. Not only that, but I love what she stands for! Her motto is “Discover the beauty within you”, which to her, refers to “the importance of self-improvement, getting close to nature, and listening to your inner voice!”
In her own words, she says, “Each jewelry piece is made by the ancient technique of macrame. According to this, all of them are totally made by knots that come exclusively from hand. Applying macrame is a kind of powerful contemplation that requires total concentration and demands you to be at the present time. This spiritual approach blesses every outcome creation with the same energy that dominated the whole procedure. Using healing gemstones that are full of energy and enlightening aura, combined with a stylish macrame design, helps me to accomplish my goal of reminding us all the value of our being, the power of our mind, and the uniqueness of our spirit. Living away from the big city now has provided me ways to keep myself concentrated. Being close to nature makes my understandings more targeted and simple, which gives me the peace that is needed in order to create beautiful, balanced jewelry. I hope that as you wear your macramental jewelry, it will also urge YOU to ‘Discover The Beauty Within'”.
I love the way she worded that! You can tell how much talent and passion she has for her business. Personally, when I wear her jewelry, I feel like I am able to express my true self, not to mention it makes me feel like a goddess.. and I am totally ok with that! <3 Follow her IG account and click here to visit her online shop!

Well, you already know how much I love metallic tattoos, so I was so excited to try out the temporary freckles as soon as I heard about them! I received three different colors/types and it is going to be SO much fun styling them! They are fantastic for special occasions, parties, festivals, or just everyday wear if you are into that sort of thing 🙂
First I will be using the rose gold freckles from the “Color Freckles” packet. These temporary metallic tattoos work the same way as other temp tattoos do. To begin, cut out the shape you want, peel off the plastic, place it face down on your skin (on the desired area), dab paper on your skin using a damp towel until saturated. Peel back the paper and voila! I will say though, it is important to pat down the metallic freckles on your skin afterward to fully seal them down. I chose to put this one across my nose!
Next, I am choosing to use the freckles from the “Confetti” packet. I am cutting out the triangle-like shape for both sides of my cheek bones! Follow all the same instructions as before and remember to pat them down after!
Last, I am using the tiny little heart shaped freckles from the packet called “Freckles”. In this packet, you have gold and silver options! Too cute! This time, I am putting some on both sides of my cheeks.
“The New Makeup”
Thanks Mr. Kate for the rad freckles! Can’t wait to try the daisies next!
While searching for the photoshoot location, we stumbled upon this perfect spot right outside of the desert botanical garden in Mesa, Arizona. I didn’t realize how much I would miss the desert scene until I went back to visit! However, I would still choose my new home in the woods over the desert. But who knows, maybe I will become a winter visitor someday! …Or “snow bird” as we like to call them 😉 If not, I will at least include some cactus and succulents in my house to remind me of my original home!
So back to my mumu! I recently came across the store Mindful Bohemian via Instagram. This store has TONS of goodies that appeal to my bohemian soul. The dress I am wearing in this shoot particularly called out to me, especially knowing I would be visiting Arizona soon!
So, be sure to check out this store along with Mad Maven on Etsy. Enjoy the desert 🌵
Yes, I am usually found wearing bright colors, but who doesn’t love putting on a black dress and dark lipstick every once in a while? For this Marchesa dress, I’d gladly go to the dark side for a bit to style it up! You could say playing dress up is a favorite thing of mine, so I absolutely loved doing this Marchesa lookbook photoshoot! We went to this old abandoned looking mill in downtown Newnan, Georgia for the shoot. The Walking Dead filmed a bit in this mill too! How cool is that?! I loved the rustic, yet industrial appearance the outside of the building had. It ended up accompanying my dark dress and lips very well!
When all was said and done, apparently I attracted some chiggers while walking through the kudzu for this shoot!! I realized the next day how many bites I had… rawr! Needless to say, it was worth it because the shot of me standing in the kudzu happens to be my favorite pic from the entire shoot!
Showing support to small businesses is a favorite thing of mine! This will be the first of many that I will share with you 🙂 I first came across Aura Stone Designs on Instagram. This is a bracelet business that just seemed to speak my language! I’m telling you, these bracelets are adorable and they definitely call to my bohemian soul! Right off the bat, I knew there was way more to Aura Stone Designs than meets the eye. I recently had the wonderful opportunity to ask about her jewelry-making business. You could say it is very intriguing to me when a small business has a wonderful purpose, motive, and background behind the product they are selling. So obviously, I had so many questions for her!
I recently received my Aura Stone bracelets in the mail and I am absolutely loving them! Reading up on this business left me feeling very positive and uplifted, so I wanted to share it with others, of course!
About the Products
There were nicely typed up brochures sent to me with the jewelry. The purpose of the brochure is to inform you on your purchase, what kind of stone it is, its healing qualities and spiritual meaning! Too cool! Not to mention, the packaging in general, was cute as can be!
My most favorite bracelet from her is made with Sodalite and Quartz stone. The purpose of this stone is to provide inner peace, positive vibes, and clear, logical thinking. Accompanying the stones, there is an adorable feather AND quarts charm hanging from the bracelet! Quartz is known to have a strong resonance, which is why it is often used as part of crystal healing.
In this brochure full of amazing knowledge and upliftment that was provided, I am reminded to put on my bracelet and say a positive affirmation with it. Some of these include:
I live in the present and am confident of the future
I attract positive energy only
I breathe in relaxation. I breathe out stress
I am calm and centered
Positive opportunities are presenting themselves
My confidence and inner wisdom are increasing
The other bracelet I received is wonderful as well! It has what is known as a “laughing Buddha” charm on it. This charm is a symbol of abundance, prosperity, and happiness.
Also included with this description, it’s mentioned that black is a very grounding color that deepens our connection to physical things! Wearing a black bracelet is said to aid you to own and accept your appearance and place here on Earth. Black can also act as a shield, protecting and deflecting negative energy.
With this particular bracelet, I am reminded in the brochure to put it on and say one of these positive affirmations with it.
I have a positive attitude and attract positive results.
I accept myself with love and kindness.
Positive opportunities are presenting themselves.
My confidence and inner wisdom are increasing.
I mean, can you see why I love this shop yet?!
Interviewing Aura Stone Designs
Luckily, Aura Stone allowed me to dig a little deeper, and she even answered a few questions about her business for me! Hope you enjoy. <3
Me: Could you tell me a bit about the background of this business you started and what inspired you to create it?
Aura Stone: I have a Masters degree in Sociology, with a background in healthcare and research methods. I have great respect for and am a big advocate of evidence-based medicine. Basically, I believe that healthcare decisions should be based on evidence from well designed and constructed peer-reviewed research. In my personal life, I balance this by exploring areas that don’t neatly fit into randomized control trials. Some of these include Reiki, yoga, meditation, essential oils, and crystals. I don’t find these two sides at odds with each other, but rather they complement each other and provide me with a sense of balance. Given my research background, I love diving in and learning all about these subjects. Essential Oil session? I’m in! Reiki certification? Yes, please! Gem and Mineral club? Sign me up! My interests have led to quite a varied and interesting skill set. Creating jewelry has combined these nicely and is a great creative outlet.
Me: Please tell me all that there is to know about the products you use!
Aura Stone: I am very lucky to have a bead wholesaler very close by and can pick all my stones in person. Walking into the space, the energy is amazing! I get to touch and really feel the different vibe that each one has. I create each bracelet with a specific intention, which is to infuse it with positive Reiki energy and share what I have researched about the stone in a write-up for each bracelet. This way, if someone compliments you on your bracelet, you’ll know that stone’s name and a few things about it to start a conversation. Understanding the meaning of the elements of your bracelet can also make it more meaningful to you. It can be a reminder to you to live intentionally. Those trying to take it up a level can also try saying an affirmation included in the write-up when they put it on, increasing the intention of the bracelet.
Me: I keep hearing and reading about Reiki energy, what exactly is it?
Aura Stone: Reiki is a form of energy work, it isn’t tied to any religion or dogma. There is nothing you must believe in for you to use it or benefit from it. Also, you cannot be harmed by it either. The practitioner acts as a channel to allow Reiki energy (also known as Universal life energy) to flow and help remove energy blocks in our system that are caused by emotional or physical stress and pain. It is also used to flow and infuse objects. To be a practitioner of Reiki, you need to go through a process called an attunement. After going through the learning, a Reiki master adjusts your chakras, enabling them to become channels for the Universal Life Force Energy. I went through the classes and process pretty skeptical, but open to the experience. It was really interesting learning more about Chakras, as it was something that I had only vaguely been introduced to in yoga. During my final attunement by the Reiki master, I felt like the ocean at full moon. It was like a rolling sensation with waves of energy from my toes up to my head. It felt like a strong gravitational pull upward. Then quite suddenly, I felt a great sense of calm and peacefulness. Quite the physical and emotional experience! Reiki has been a great blessing and I am happy to be able to share it with others.
When Reiki energy is infused into crystals, it is said to magnify the metaphysical properties. It charges the object with positive energy and increases the effectiveness of a crystal’s natural vibration- which in turn react with your own body’s vibration. By wearing a Reiki infused Aura bracelet, you are intentionally surrounding yourself with good vibes only!
I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know about this business and the background, makes me love my Aura Stone bracelets even more!! If you are interested in Aura Stone jewelry or supporting small businesses, visit her Etsy page and Instagram to pick out your favorite bracelets!
In movies I had seen in the past, Indian women wore these gorgeous, colorful, even sparkling outfits! As I got older, I wondered if that was a culture fashion tradition followed in the past, or if it remained their current fashion of today. I thought about those old movies as I prepared for my trip to India, and I hoped to see those beautiful dresses while I was there! And guess what? I did, they were GORG!
So for my pleasure, and for anyone else who would like to take this time to admire Indian women’s fashion with me, I put together a simple lookbook! Below I included some typical casual everyday attire, ethnic jewelry, bindis, henna (mehndi), and wedding attire! Saris are a garment worn by Hindu women, consisting of a long piece of cotton or silk wrapped around the body with one end draped over the head or over one shoulder. A Bindi is a decorative mark worn in the middle of the forehead by Indian women. It is said to be the third eye in Hindu religion, and it can be used to ward off bad luck.! Mehndi is the application of henna paste in an intricate design to decorate the body, often for wedding celebrations and other festive occasions.
Hope you enjoy!
I was very intrigued by the designs of the woman’s clothing, so I set out to find a factory where they hand dye and stamp the clothing! Here is some behind the scenes footage of the factory.
